Hi Bry I know this is a thread of recent builds but have you got any from the 80's of the Mercury Comet? Prime Mover, I know the owner sadly passed away a while ago, sorry can't remember his name, do you know what happened to the car.
This was the first time I can remember seeing a car painted by you, the paint on it left such an impression on me it still ranks amongst my all time top 10 favourite cars.
I took a photograph of the detail but when I got it developed all I could see was me & the missus in the reflection & no-one wants to see that.

Hi Ian, Thanks for the kind words, that car was owned by Moss, a real good guy, I inadvertantly threw a box of pic's out whilst moving house a few years ago so no I dont.
I do remember the first time we showed the car at Bristol it won 'best pro paint' it turned out it was the first time in 11 years (or something) that Mech-Spray hadnt won it!

I remember Prime Mover at a rod run in the North East. We were all gob smacked at the paint!!!! When this long haired yob strode over, rubbed his hands over the body and announced to everyone " It needs cutting back again!" We all thought Cheeky Bastard!!!! How dare he even touch the paint!!!! Never mind comment on it!!!! My first recollection of you Bry.

This type of job is problematic particulally when you are trying to run a busy bodyshop, spraybooth time is at a premium, and moving a thing like this around with a spool, and shite steering geometry turns it into a bit of a mare. ie as soon as you get it in the booth we need to get it out to do something else! we thought long and hard how to overcome these issues - the only way was to do it over Christmas, we close down for 2 weeks over the xmas and new year period (I usually do maintenance over this period) so the day before christmas eve we got it in, and on stands, it was allready in silver flake so just four sets of flames in different shades, and then green candy the whole thing, I had four hours off on christmas day afternoon other than that it was 10 hour days

The biggest thing is getting it straight and the panel fit, thats where the time realy is, and if you dont get that right it doesn't matter what you do with the paint - it will only be an 'ok' job
