Doug Hayes has been posting some cool pics up on the Stiffspeed Facebook page and sharing some of his moments from the trip. Thought I'd share them on here if that's ok?...

"Los Angeles to St. Louis when I was 16"

"actually, the cop pulled us over just to talk. He invited us to dinner at his house because he wanted us to see his '40 Ford coupe that was getting and new small-block-chev, so we went.
We had a great time and then we headed off to Tucumcari for the night.
This shot was a few days later in Oklahoma. I got up on the overpass to get this one.

"Olds motor with a Hydromatic trans. Six Strombergs.
We ran much of the trip on the center two carbs to save gas and also ran through the deserts at night because of the daily heat. We ran it at night uncorked, also to try to get etter mileage.
(Plus, it was fun to sit behind the open collectors especially when we were going down a grade because the flames would spit out)

"Too hot during the day so we had to make our own shade."

"I have no idea where the T or the owner, Phil Dunn, is today.
    I'd love to find him.

"I kept this sort of diary of the trip. Here's one page."

    "Moriarty, New Mexico"

"right before we added the roll bar so we could attach the beer keg to it for more gas."

"primitive, but it got us to St. Louis where Phil wanted to visit his uncle.
I got a flight back to LAX and called my mom for a ride home.
