Seen that done with a Morris 1000 , but it didn't look as good
Years ago there used to be a yank tank built as though it was coming out of the diner at Sterling Corner on the A1, they used the whole car and built the brickwork up both sides and over the roof, was kind of cool back then.
The Morris was in a bar/restaurant called Morris's
I wonder how long would it take to become bored with it?
Apex Corner.
Remember both very well. Back in the late seventies, I worked at the Stirling corner petrol station in my 6th Form and early college years.
The place got very busy during the early years of ground works for what would become the M25.
A lot of the tipper drivers were regulars and in those days, pre self serve pumps, it was the norm to let them fill up themselves and a quick check when they'd done, cash exchanged and off they'd go. All was good but one day, I tried to stop a guy putting 2 star in the tank of his truck. He was adamant that all was fine. Took his cash and off he trundled. Got not far past Apex Corner and that was it. He then proceeded to empty the contents of his tank down the nearest drain.
About an hour later, someone threw a fag end down a drain near Mill Hill Broadway and then blew all the manhole covers for about half a mile!!
Happy Days.
Back on the subject of the American car built into the wall of the pub, I remember it but by then I had long since moved to the Midlands. Still kept a loose connection to the area, as my mum still lived in Borehamwood until last November.
