Just threw out what little Canuckian I speak courtesy of aforementioned Bob and Doug Mackenzie. I'd be more tempted to try back bacon than I would that aussie delight known as vegemite. From what I've read my delicate pallet wouldn't approve.

Vegemite is indeed and 'acquired taste'...and not for the delicate of constitution. If you do get the opportunity to sample tho, use it VERY sparingly ; dont slop it on like peanut butter as some have done...trust me on this one.

oh, and you can add ' have a Blue, eh?' to your arsenal of canuck-speak.

btw...if youre ever that far north - like even in Michigan - do NOT turn down an opportunity for Tim Hortons doughnuts! beauty, eh?!?

    *Aussie vegemite = UK marmite

Mr femurphy it is indeed an acquired taste you may have smelt it if you have passed through a centre of the brewing industry [Burton on trent for example] as it is a yeast extract byproduct of the beer making process.

the word Marmite is now used to describe anything that polarises opinion.

I can remember having Vegemite once, for some reason. I don't think it had as much flavour as Marmite. No, Marmite's much better.
