And, amazingly, I was made redundant with the collapse of Civic Stores too. As part of my redundancy I bought my company car, an escort estate, and flogged it for a profit, and my dad's (who worked there too) escort van, which started me on my journey as a vanner.......Small world, huh ?
I worked at several branches, Collier Row, Leytonstone (where I met 'er indoors) and latterly Romford. Which branch were you located at Gary?

Fantastic! Such a shame about that Firenza as it looked brilliant with tasteful modifications that would still look good even today without being over the top
Now that you mention the steering issue I vaguely remember having a similar problem on my old van due to the offset and wider than normal rubber but you kind of get used to it after a while and just becomes part of a vehicle's 'quirks' I guess. (along with having to self cancel indicators too).
I'm another lover of 'big' cars. Always have loved them, especially from the 70's era, and the boxier the better

Oh, and that Galaxie on evilbay looks stunning! Probably worth every penny but I'm not sure I'd want 30K wrapped up in it.

    Love this angle...

One of my all time favourites. Superbly turned out and sounded like it should.

Not to sure about the wheels - IMHO they also look better in one solid colour - not with vinyl roof!

I was based in Harlesden, and worked mostly in Shepherd's Bush. I was a field service engineer, hence the company car
