These ones are very easily identified as being from Street Machine's 1987 Cruise for Charity, from John o' Groats to Land's End. The 1500-mile cruise ran from 6th-14th June with 78 cars taking part. All these photos are clearly from the finish at Land's End.

Pop is Malc Farrant’s,and he still owns the car and still looks good in safe storage.

It was Ian Webb.

He's still doing high end restos and has built quite a reputation for specialising in Facel Vegas. Malc worked with Ian for a number of years and between them did a lot of the metalwork on my 300E.

1928 Model A roadster is still around but in a somewhat altered form - it now appears in the guise of a1930 sedan

I've no idea what's become of this tall T but doesn't it look good? I imagine it's probably a Ray's Rods body.

'53 Pop 'Black Rose' was built at the tail end of the '70s by Hampshire's John Cross, taking its name and mural from the Thin Lizzy album Black Rose: A Rock Legend. It ran a 1600GT motor and 2000E gearbox, and looked very nice. Having lost its nice paint during the passage of time, it was being rebuilt by an owner in Bolton in 2015.

Morris Minor looks pretty good with a vinyl roof and Minilites, although what I take to be some kind of Continental kit rather resembles an advanced tumour

Gary Belcher's famous Jag V12-engined T-Bucket from 1979, now preserved exactly as it was then in the Haynes Motor Museum

It's nice that there was still evidence of truly low-budget, amateur rodding at the end of the '80s. This T doesn't look at all bad, although smaller lights would do it the world of good. It does appear to be on a surprisingly short chassis, though I wonder if it's just the size of the lights making the proportions look a bit off. Murals and stakeside pick-up bed are features one doesn't see all that often on a T. It appears to have a V8 which, given the small size of the car, is surely a Daimler.

Probably a hangover from the 1970s, this 1971 Vauxhall Victor was a particularly creative exercise, but hasn't been used since 1996.
