    Would have been '64. Nice top end shot of Sydney Allard there, I have the gearbox to that car in my shop at the moment.

    1964 RAF Chelveston.

    One of a network of WWII B17 bomber bases, Chelveston is located about ten miles from RAF Podington.
    During the 1950's Boeing B-47 Stratojet nuclear bombers were based here requiring an extended runway.



    Chelveston was still in military use in the early Sixties which is probably why Podington was chosen for a permanent drag strip.
    Or maybe it was just because 'Santa Chelv' sounds silly?
